What is iTax?
iTax is a system that has been developed by the Kenya Revenue Authority to improve on efficiency. iTax allows you to file tax returns & register all tax payments
All taxpayers (individuals, companies, parastatals, NGOs, etc) should update their information using the iTax System.
All entities (Individual & Body Corporates) must file their tax returns by 30th June every year even if you did not earn any taxable income within the year (Nil Return)
Late Filing Penalties
5% of the tax due or Ksh. 2000 whichever is higher. The late payment penalty is 5% of the tax due and also late payment attracts an interest of 1% per month.

What We Do
Income Tax is a direct tax on income and is charged for each year of income on all the income of a person, that is accrued in or was derived from Kenya.
This is a compulsory obligation for all resident individuals registering for a PIN.
PAYE is a method of collecting tax at source from individuals in gainful employment, including workers of Religious Organizations and foreign missions working in Kenya.
Gains or Profits include; wages, causal wages, salary, leave pay, sick pay, payment in lieu of leave, fees, commission, bonus, gratuity, or subsistence, travelling, entertainment or other allowance received in respect of employment or services rendered.
If you are an employer you are required to register for this obligation.
As an employer you are required to deduct PAYE from your employees? salaries and wages at the prevailing rates and remit the same to KRA on or before the 9th of the following month
Value Added Tax is charged on:
- Supply of taxable goods or services made or provided in Kenya, and;
- Importation of taxable goods or services into Kenya.
If you supply or expect to supply taxable goods and taxable services with a value of Kshs 5 Million or more in a year, you qualify to register for VAT.
u are also required to submit online monthly returns on or before the 20th of the following month.
Turnover Tax(TOT) is a tax charged on gross sales of a business as per Sec. 12(c) of the Income Tax Act.
First introduced vide Finance Act 2006, replaced by Presumptive Income Tax vide Finance Act 2018 then reintroduced vide Finance Act 2019.
The effective date of TOT is 01/01/2020
Who should pay TOT?
Turnover Tax (TOT) is payable by resident persons whose gross turnover from business is more than Kshs. 1,000,000 and does not exceed or is not expected to exceed Kshs 50,000,000 in any given year.
TOT does not apply to:
- Persons with business income below Ksh. 1,000,000 and above Kshs. 50,000,000 per annum
- Rental Income,
- Management, Professional and Training Fees,
- Any income that is subject to a final withholding tax under the Income Tax Act
This is a tax that is deductible from certain classes of income at the point of making a payment, to non-employees.
WHT is deducted at source from the following sources of income:
- Management or professional fees (including consultancy, agency or contractual fees)
- Rent received by non-residents
- Other payments specified
Companies and partnerships making the payment, are responsible for deducting and remitting the tax to the Commissioner of Domestic Taxes.
